Reaction roles
Members choose their own roles with buttons and select menus. Configure role groups, V1/V2 messages and managed publications.
Included features
- Both formats support previews, accent colours, images, multiple embeds and expanding, copying, removing and reordering embeds. V1 uses fixed Discord fields, while V2 uses freely arranged blocks. The following sections explain the available inputs and their differences.
- Role buttons with labels, emojis, four button styles and one or more roles per option
- Select menus with placeholders, descriptions, emojis and single or multiple selection
- V1 supports multiple independent role selectors below the entire message. They share up to five action rows. Each menu uses one row, and up to five buttons share a row. Five menus are therefore possible only without additional button rows. Each selector contains up to 25 options. V2 assigns one role selector with buttons or a menu to each container, using the shared component budget. Moving a V1 embed does not move an independent role selector. This module offers blue, grey, green or red role buttons, but no website link-button editor or one-time sending.
- Live preview with simulated role selection that does not change real member roles
- Name and duplicate compositions, save drafts, publish and update messages, and remove publications
- Guidance on role permissions, role hierarchy, image sizes, text limits and the shared component limit
05
Settings
Settings lets you choose the language, time zone and default embed color, delegate dashboard access and manage stored module data.
- Default color for bot embeds
- Language and time zone
- Delegated dashboard access
- Management of stored module data
06
Commands
All Fjord slash commands, their permissions and help with errors.
Use slash commands
Slash commands are part of Fjord itself and do not require a separate dashboard module. Type / in a channel on your Discord server, search for the command name and select it. Discord then shows its available options.
- Choose the correct server and a channel where you may use commands.
- Type / and select a Fjord command. Fill in required fields such as user.
- Check the user, duration and optional reason before submitting.
- Read Fjord’s reply. It also explains missing permissions or requirements.
Requirements and permissions
All commands listed here work only in a server. Moderation commands check the caller’s permissions when executed. A visible command does not mean you may use it. The server owner can run most moderation commands regardless of their own role permissions.
| Command | Your permission | Fjord needs |
|---|---|---|
/help | All server members | No additional moderation permission |
/ban | Ban Members | Ban Members |
/kick | Kick Members | Kick Members |
/mute | Moderate Members | Moderate Members |
/unmute | Moderate Members | Moderate Members |
/warn | Manage Messages | The matching permission to moderate, kick or ban for any configured follow-up action |
/warnings | Moderate Members | No additional moderation permission |
/clear-last-violation | Manage Messages | No additional moderation permission |
/clear-all-violations | Administrator or server owner | No additional moderation permission |
/user-profile | All server members | No additional moderation permission |
For ban, kick, mute and unmute, Fjord needs the relevant Discord permission. Its highest role must be above the target member’s highest role. Fjord also checks the caller’s role position. The server owner is exempt. The server owner cannot be targeted by these actions.
All commands
| Command | What it does | Options |
|---|---|---|
/help | Lists the available moderation commands. | None |
/ban | Bans a member and can delete their messages from the last 0 to 7 days. | user required, reason optional, delete_days optional (0–7) |
/kick | Removes a member from the server. They can return with a new invite. | user required, reason optional |
/mute | Applies a Discord timeout for up to 28 days. | user required, minutes, hours, days optional, together at least 1 minute, reason optional |
/unmute | Ends an active timeout. This reverses /mute. | user required, reason optional |
/warn | Stores a warning. Configured warning levels may trigger an additional action. | user required, reason optional |
/warnings | Shows a member’s warning count and history. | user required |
/clear-last-violation | Deletes a member’s most recent stored warning. | user required |
/clear-all-violations | Deletes all stored warnings for a member or, without user, the whole server. | user optional, without user, server-wide |
/user-profile | Shows visible profile data. Warning history is visible only to the user or authorized moderators. | user optional, without user, your profile |
Important differences
/mute needs a total duration of at least one minute and at most 28 days. /unmute works only while a timeout is active.
/warn uses the Auto Moderator’s configured warning levels. Depending on the level, Fjord may also apply a timeout, kick or ban.
/clear-last-violation removes only the latest warning. /clear-all-violations removes all stored warnings for the selected member or, without user, the entire server.
An empty warning history does not reverse a previous ban or kick. /unmute only removes the current timeout.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Check and solution |
|---|---|
| A command does not appear. | Check that you are in a server, Fjord is installed there and Discord has refreshed its slash commands. A renamed command may take a short time to appear. |
| Fjord reports missing permissions. | Check your own permission for the command and the matching bot permission in server settings. A visible command does not grant access. |
| Role hierarchy blocks an action. | Move the Fjord role above the target role. Unless you own the server, your highest role must also be above the target role. |
| Mute rejects the duration. | Use at least one minute and no more than 28 days. Setting all three time fields to 0 is invalid. |
| /unmute says there is no active timeout. | Check whether the member still has a Discord timeout. An expired timeout cannot be removed again. |
| Warnings are missing or cannot be deleted. | Check the selected user and your permission. /clear-last-violation needs a stored warning. /clear-all-violations removes stored warnings. |
| Fjord replies with a general error. | Check bot permissions, roles and Discord availability. Try again. If it continues, contact support. |
